What is the turning point of Dear Mr Henshaw?

In the beginning of Beverly Clearly's Dear Mr. Henshaw, Leigh Botts experiences significant hardships at school; in his friendships; while dealing with his parents' divorce—but the turning point arrives near the story's conclusion. After receiving advice and encouragement from his classmates and his pen pal (and favourite author,) Mr. Lewis himself), Leigh feels empowered when he stands up to bullies with the skills in storytelling the author, Boyd Henshaw, taught him.
