What is the connection between sentences and paragraphs?

Paragraphs are made up of sentences. A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought. A paragraph is a group of sentences that are related to each other and that develop a single idea. Each sentence in a paragraph should support the paragraph's main idea. The main idea is usually expressed in the topic sentence, which is the first sentence in the paragraph.

The sentences in a paragraph should be connected to each other with transitions. Transitions are words or phrases that show the relationship between sentences and help the reader follow the flow of the paragraph. Some common transitions include:

- first

- second

- next

- in addition

- moreover

- however

- in contrast

- finally

Paragraphs should also be connected to each other. The last sentence in one paragraph should lead into the first sentence in the next paragraph. This can be done by using a transition or by repeating a key word or phrase.

By connecting sentences and paragraphs, you can create a smooth and well-written essay. Your writing will be easier to read and understand, and you will be more likely to communicate your ideas effectively.
