Childhood Education Games

Childhood education games are readily available online 24 hour a day. Of course, parents and teachers can purchase the traditional educational workbooks found in bookstores, but many similar concepts are available with a click of a button. Children can start to learn about shapes, matching and following directions on the Internet. Many educational games are interactive, animated, play music and read the directions so children understand what they are to do.
  1. Puzzles

    • UpToTen.com offers numerous jigsaw puzzles for children up to 10 years old. This is not your old school puzzle where you actual touch each piece of the puzzle. Children match the numerous puzzles pieces together to reveal the pictures. The educational games offer an outline of each puzzle piece in a box and show individual puzzle pieces on the side. Children can move the pieces with a click of the mouse and drag the pieces in position.

    Pairing Games

    • Children can learn about pairing and matching at the Boowa Kwala Club site. It features 20 pairing games, such as Pairs of Furniture, Echo Word Endings, Babies and Mummies and Mirror Cards. For example, children match the different types of furniture in a house. Children reveal a car by clicking it once to reveal a piece of furniture and then try to locate the exact type of furniture by clicking another card. Some furniture children need to match includes an armchair, table, picture, bed and bedside light.

    Before and After

    • UpToTen.com features numerous before and after games. Children try to figure out what item is first or last. For example, the "Boats on Water" game displays seven different boats. Children place the boats in chronological order according to the time that people used the boat. Children can learn about classic liners, which crossed the ocean from 1900 to 1960. Another boat, which children will discover, is the prehistory pirogues, which Europeans set sail in during the Middles Ages.

    Sorting the Animal Species

    • In the educational game "Animal Species," different animal names appear and children determine whether the animal is a mammal, a reptile, a fish, an invertebrate, an amphibian or a bird. For example, the bear is a mammal, the eagle is a bird and the frog is an amphibians. For every correct answer children receive 20 points.
