Math Games for Primary 2

Online interactive math games help make learning more fun. Teachers use interactive math games to help expand learning interest, to use when extra practice is needed and to use when setting up computer areas for a primary 2 classroom math station. Math games such as interactive coloring charts and games that help them practice adding or subtracting prove to encourage math study, which also improves math scores.
  1. Shark Numbers

    • This free place online game helps primary 2 students practice their place values. Students count the place values on the left and choose the correct answer from the shark pool on the right. Students can check their answers by clicking the red "Check" button on the surfboard. If the answer is incorrect, a shark will take a bite out of the surfboard. The sharks swim around patiently, to give the student plenty of time to count the green blocks before answering.

    Rock Hopper

    • Rock Hopper helps students practice their addition and subtraction skills. Students move a frog across slippery rocks to safely get him to the large rock at the end of the pool. The object of the game is for the frog to hop only on the rocks that have numbers corresponding to the correct addends to add up to the goal number. If the frog goes over or under the goal number required, he slips off of the rock and must try again.

    Math Lines

    • Math Lines is a free game found at Dr Mikes Math Games For Kids Online. This game allows primary 2 students to enjoy firing and bursting marbles while adding numbers. The goal is to reach a total goal of 10 with two marbles at a time, before the marbles fall into the hole. Marbles will continue rolling slowly toward the hole, and new marbles will continue being fired as the points add up. This game helps students remember their addition tables, while having to focus and think fast.

    Interactive Coloring 100s Chart

    • Apples 4 the Teacher Online offers a complimentary interactive coloring math 100s chart. Second-graders can choose a color and color onto the online chart. They can practice skip-counting or multiplication tables, to name two examples. Students can then see if they see a color pattern within the chart. If a student makes a mistake with the coloring, she can simply click on the white crayon and then on the square that the mistake was made. The square will reset white again, and she can recolor another square.
