Science Games for Seven-Year-Olds

Of all the things children learn in school, science is probably the most diverse subject. Science covers nature, the human body, animals and universal concepts, and it can also be entertaining for children. They can learn about science from books, videos, doing experiments, being in nature and also by playing games. Games allow kids to learn while feeling like they are playing, which can create a winning academic situation for them.
  1. Scavenger Hunts

    • A pine cone can be a scavenger hunt item.

A science game that is often played by children around the age of seven is a scavenger hunt. Give each child a list of items to find in nature as well as a paper bag or small cardboard box, paper or cardboard to protect the environment if they are lost or discarded. Tell the children when to start and that it is a race to see who will find the most items on their list and to return when either something like a bell is rung or a whistle is blown. There are also other scavenger hunts that include the human body.

    Matching Games

    • Matching games can help children to identify different aspects of science, such as those at the website Zoodles, where there is a game that matches caterpillars with butterflies to help them understand the life cycle. Kids can also explore the realms of space by visiting NASA's Kid's Club website and play the Space Lunch Game, in which they try to match as many foods as possible. That site also offers other space games and facts that are helpful learning tools.

    Internet Games

    • The Internet offers many websites with science games.

The Internet is full of science game websites such as Euro Turtle, which offers Race to the Sea, Life Cycle of a Turtle, Recycling Relay Race and more. There is also the Mission Nutrition game at Kid's Health where you explore the kitchen. By varying an Internet search, you can find memory games, how to make a tornado in a bottle, plan nature activities and so much more. Try using search words such as science activities, rainy day games, and science for seven-year-olds.

    Video games

    • Playing video games can be a great way to learn.

There are a wide variety of games offered for use on your home computer or with other gaming systems. Science Blaster Jr. is a CD put out by Knowledge Adventure School that has a variety of games that teach basic science. Dorling Kindersley also puts out games such as I Love Science and My Amazing Human Body. There are also many other science games available for the Nintendo, Wii, and other various gaming systems.
