Reading Comprehension Computer Games

Having your child play computer games to improve reading comprehension may not be your first inclination; however, researchers have discovered that computer games actually help improve reading skills. For example, Tammy McGraw, an Appalachian Educational Laboratory education specialist, discovered the visual and rhythmic stimulation of Dance Dance Revolution helped children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder learn to focus and become better readers. Video games also hold children's attention and provide a reward system in a way that other mediums do not.
