Poster Board Activities for 100 Days

Celebrating the 100th day of the school year can be a great opportunity for a classroom party but it can also present a chance to become involved in some fun learning exercises. Make the day extra special for your students. Many different activities involving color, numbers and letters, can be displayed on poster board.
  1. Fun With Kisses

    • Before class, hide 100 Hershey's Kisses throughout the classroom. On the bottom of each Kiss should be a sticker labeling what number is assigned to the piece of candy. Be sure to place the Kisses in obvious places to find them. When class starts, instruct the pupils that today they are to find each piece of candy and place the sticker on a numbered poster board. You could also cut the poster board to be in the shape of a giant Hershey's Kiss. After each Kiss is found, divide the candy up evenly and pass out to the students who want to have some.

    A Gumball Machine

    • Take a construction board and cut it into the shape of a gumball machine. The board should have a red base where the gumball is distributed and a white circle on top of the base. Then take 100 colored stickers. Be sure that each sticker is in the shape of a circle so that they resemble gumballs. Have the children position the stickers inside the circle in any manner that they wish.

    Word Collection

    • With a large sheet of poster board, print 10 different categories. The categories should represent a variety of topics, such as animals, colors, food and emotions. Next, have the students brainstorm and come up with different examples to be listed under each category. For example, a school category might include math and recess. Continue until you have listed 10 items in each category. Now you can tell the class that you now have a collection of 100 words. This exercise helps reinforce association and language creativity.

    100 Items

    • Make a fun and eclectic collage with your class to see by using leftover art supply items and also smaller items that the children may bring in from home. A few examples might include string, stickers, paper dolls, magazine clippings, drawings and pipe cleaners. Collect items until you have reached 100 different varieties. Instruct your pupils to glue all of the items onto the poster board.
