Hand each child a set of sequencing cards, each with a picture of an apple tree in the different stages of its development. Have the child order the pictures from left to right, with the earliest stage on the left and the last stage on the right. The activity is complete once the cards are ordered successfully.
If your child knows enough about the apple tree's life cycle, you can have him attempt to draw the cycle from memory. Have the child draw a picture of the first step in the cycle, and then an arrow pointing to the next step. Follow that with a picture of the next step, and so on until the cycle is completely drawn.
If possible, you can take the children to an apple farm where they can witness the life cycle stages of the apple tree. Additionally, you can make the children take pictures of an apple tree in its various life cycle stages. The children can keep the pictures for further review.
The child can also write a report detailing the life cycle of an apple tree. Each portion of the report would detail the activities of the tree in each stage. The report's grade should primarily be based on the amount of information given and additionally on structure and grammar.
