Why year 7 and 8 should not do homework every school night?

Increased stress and anxiety: Homework can cause increased stress and anxiety in students, especially if they are already struggling with their schoolwork. This can lead to problems with sleep, concentration, and overall well-being.

Decreased time for other activities: Homework can take up a significant amount of time each night, leaving students with less time for other activities like socialization, extracurriculars, and hobbies. This can lead to a lack of balance in students' lives and can contribute to stress and anxiety.

Ineffective use of time: Some studies have shown that homework may not be as effective as other methods of learning, such as class discussion or hands-on activities. In some cases, homework can actually be counterproductive, as students may not fully understand the material they are assigned to learn on their own.

Equity issues: Homework can disadvantage students from low-income families who may not have access to the resources they need to complete their homework, such as a quiet place to study, a computer, or internet access. This can lead to further disparities in educational outcomes.

Alternatives to homework: There are many alternative ways to reinforce learning without assigning traditional homework. These alternatives can be more engaging and less stressful for students and can include activities like reading for pleasure, completing projects, or participating in extracurricular activities.
