What is a pre AP class?

A Pre-AP class, or Pre-Advanced Placement class, is a course designed to prepare students for the rigor and challenges of Advanced Placement (AP) courses. They generally cover the same subject matter as a regular level class, but at a faster pace, with a higher level of complexity and a greater emphasis on critical thinking, analytical skills, and independent learning.

Think of it as a bridge between regular coursework and the demands of AP classes. Pre-AP classes often:

* Introduce AP-level concepts and skills: Students are exposed to the types of thinking and writing expected in AP courses.

* Develop strong foundational knowledge: They build a solid base in the subject matter that will be beneficial in future AP courses.

* Enhance study skills and time management: Pre-AP classes often require more independent work and responsibility, helping students develop essential study habits.

* Promote deeper understanding: The curriculum goes beyond surface-level knowledge and encourages deeper engagement with the material.

However, Pre-AP classes are *not* the same as AP courses. Students in Pre-AP classes do not take an AP exam at the end of the year. The goal is preparation, not college credit.
