Find a website which specializes in teaching shapes online. Sheppard Software, A Kid's Heart, and Tutor Vista are websites that allow children to play interactive games to learn their shapes.
Instruct the child to play the shape games that are found on the website. For instance, the Sheppard software website has a game called Purpy's shapes in which the child must help an adorable little creature named Purpy find different shapes. The child should press "Start" in the lower right corner to begin.
Instruct the child to identify the circles, squares and triangles. The page compares the circle to a donut, a square to a window and a triangle to a piece of pizza. The point of this game is to identify commonly found shapes.
Instruct your child to select the items that are shaped like a circle. The next page gives the child a bevy of shapes which are shaped like circles, squares and triangles. The child must correctly identify the circles on the page. The child must then identify the squares and finally the triangles remaining.
Instruct the child to continue matching shapes on the ensuing pages. As she helps "Purpy" along the way, the child will continue to match circles, squares and triangles found in daily life. As the game progresses, matching shapes becomes slightly harder. After the child finishes helping "Purpy," she can choose another shape game on the site.
