A sentence puzzle is inexpensive and easy to make. Place each word from Psalm 150 on separate 3-by-5 cards. Put the completed cards into piles according to the sentence they belong to. There are eight sentences beginning and ending with the same sentence, "Praise the Lord." Mix-up each pile and have kids try to put them back into the correct order. Younger kids can work on one sentence while older kids can try to complete the entire chapter.
Write out Psalm 150 on card stock or use a large font on the computer and print it on card stock. Using pencil, draw a pattern over the entire piece of card stock and cut-out. Mix-up the pieces and have kids try to put the puzzle together. If you want something more elaborate and permanent, use foam core instead of card stock and have an adult cut the pattern with a utility knife. Store the pieces in a plastic zip-top bag.
Have kids create their own word search, maze and cryptogram puzzle with the help of a website dedicated to making kid's puzzles. Most sites will allow you to create the puzzle and then print it off to share with your friends. This activity not only helps kids remember Psalm 150, but also uses their imagination and technical skills. Have them decorate a manila file folder with the words from Psalm 150 and then use it to store their printed activities. This will keep everything organized and the kids will have a nice keepsake.
An anagram is a word scramble puzzle. Using a pencil, lightly write-out Psalm 150 on a large piece of paper. Go back and erase certain words and re-write them with the letters scrambled so that kids have to correctly unscramble the word. You can also transfer your completed anagram to the computer and print out several pages. Kids can have a timed competition to see who can unscramble all of the words first.
