Is it illegal to pray in American public schools?

It is not illegal for students to pray in American public schools. The Supreme Court has ruled that students have the right to engage in silent or group prayer as long as it doesn't disrupt the school day. However, school-sponsored prayer is not allowed. Schools cannot lead students in prayer, post religious messages in classrooms, or otherwise endorse a particular religion.
