Write an outline for each part of your story, clearly stating the key points you wish to speak about. An example might be to tell about a vacation you went on. Break it down into segments, maybe three or four, and then outline the key points for each segment and their subpoints.
Flesh out each segment no more than a paragraph or keep it in an outline form. This is the body of your talk. Make sure to add strong transition statements to link each part of your story. The sequence should be chronological and easy to follow. Identify the lesson or point of the story. What do you want your audience to remember?
Write your introductory paragraph. This should lead with something that catches the attention of your audience. Make it two or three sentences. Then write your topic sentence, which states clearly what your speech is about. Lastly, write a preview statement for each section.
Write your conclusion paragraph, which should wrap up your talk with the lesson or point of the entire story. What have you learned from this experience and what do you wish your audience to learn? Make this paragraph powerful and memorable.
