Begin writing the persuasive essay using a normal essay format. In grade school, most essays are written in the traditional five-paragraph style, which requires an introduction, three body paragraphs and a conclusion.
Determine where you are going to place the allusion in the text. The allusion should be placed where it will make a lasting impression on the reader. The best way to approach adding an allusion to a persuasive essay is to write the essay as a whole, and then go back and place the allusion after reading through the paper two or three times.
Place the allusion in a provoking segment of the essay. The most important point to remember when adding an allusion is to make sure the reader can recognize the allusion and understand its meaning. If the reference goes unnoticed or is misunderstood, it can take away from the entire flow of the essay. An example of an allusion would be as follows: "James considered himself to have terrible luck. While he was no Job, bad things seemed to happen to him every day." In this passage, the allusion is to Job, a biblical figure who is notorious for having bad things happen to him.
