Write a short story, using a writing prompt to get started. Use the following writing prompt or one like it found at the Writer's Digest Web site.
You wake up to discover you have switched bodies with your daughter's stuffed teddy bear. Write the scene.
Write about an event, describing the scene to include all five senses: hearing, seeing, touching, tasting and smelling. Do so without using any variation of the following words: smell, feel, sound, saw, and taste. The scene should be at least 500 words long.
Write a blog entry for something you did today from the perspective of someone with whom you interacted. It could be a friend, family member, acquaintance or random stranger. The blog entry should be at least 500 words long.
Write a "bucket list" of at least 25 things you want to do before you die. These can be professional, personal or both.
Choose five photos of random scenes from a magazine. Write a caption for each photo.
Write a fairy tale as if telling a news story. Approach the fantasy elements in a journalistic fashion, as if reporting on a factual story. Emphasize facts and keep descriptions objective.
Write a 750-word story about any event or topic you like. Make it more concise by cutting the story down to 500 words without losing any pertinent information. For an even greater challenge, cut that story down to 300 words.
