Topography Training

Topographical maps present cartographic information in three dimensions. In addition to distances, topo maps give striation lines illustrating the elevation and altitudes of the geographic features of the map's region. To make the most of topo maps, take a class or attend orienteering seminars to learn the nuances of the maps. Bring a compass, which will allow you to take bearings to navigate through the map's terrain.
