BMI Tools Inc.'s tape measure is made of PVC and coated polyester fiber to take the look of a tailor's tape. The standard tape measure is white on both sides of the tape and is 59.5 inches long by 0.75 inches wide. This tape measure is calibrated in either the metric system---including millimeter, centimeter and meter---or the standard measurement system, with inches and feet. The tape measures are supplied to fitness, medical, sports and textile markets.
Mahr micrometers are screw-like tools with u-shaped heads used for measuring diameters of thin rods such as guitar strings or electrical wires, or small spherical objects such as ball bearings. The micrometers are manufactured by Mahr-Federal. The spindle and anvil are used to hold the object while a ratchet located at the tail of the tool is used to adjust the scale to get the appropriate reading. The tool also has a lock to maintain the measurement read even after the object being measured has been removed.
Vernier calipers are used to measure internal and external dimensions of hollow objects. The calipers have internal and external jaws located opposite one another. A sliding blade at the tail of the caliper is used to adjust the jaws to get readings from a scale that is calibrated in standard and metric measures. The caliper has a locking screw used to firmly hold the jaws for appropriate reading.
Ulima dividers measure distances between two points, mainly on maps. Ulima makes the dividers with sharp steel edges to reduce their chances of breaking. The other parts of the divider are made of brass or bronze. The dividers also have a spring that helps maintain the positions of the divider while measuring.
