The cell is the most basic organized unit of living things. Some cells perform a specific function as part of an organism, such as a blood cell, nerve cell and skin cell. Others have multiple functions, such as the cells that make up the immune system. In either case, the fundamental makeup of the cell is comprised of organelles -- small functional units, each with a purpose.
Ecosystems are built from a variety of organisms working together to create a sustainable, functioning system. Different types of organisms contribute to an ecosystem. The producers are organisms such as grass and fungi that provide the most basic level of sustenance for other organisms. These producers can be any size -- a blade of grass compared to a tree, for example, but they are the first level of organization in an ecosystem.
Society is a massive unit of organization and within it are many smaller organized units. The smallest level of social organization is called a dyad. A dyad consists of two people who continuously and actively participate in the relationship. This is the most unstable form of social organization because the two participating members make up the rules as they go along.
A well-structured business runs smoothly because within its structure lies smaller units of organization that assist in all operations. The smallest level of a business organization depends upon the business, but almost all businesses begin with capital. Capital is the initial investment amount a business begins with, or the amount of money a business has to begin building. The amount of capital can be small or large. The smallest level in actual size may be at the top of the power structure, because many business have a base of multiple employees but the power concentrates at the top of the organization.
