How to Become a Better Reader and Writer

As with most things people attempt to master, the axiom "practice makes perfect" applies. Although you may never become a "perfect" reader and writer, you can become a better reader and writer. There are a number of way to go about achieving this goal, and age should be no barrier. Many adults allow embarrassment to keep them from working on their reading and writing skills, which can substantially improve their quality of life.

      Create a home environment conductive to reading and writing. Whether you are trying to become a better reader and writer yourself or you want to encourage your children or teens to take more of in interest in improving their skills, developing home reading and writing projects can be useful.

      Avoid assuming that time spent on the computer is time wasted. Any reading or writing is good, even the seemingly endless texting habit that many teens have. It is, however, appropriate to work in a few classics. For young people, one idea is to buy them an e-reader so they can download books they want.
