Water is a necessity for humans to survive. For some of us, it's as easy as turning a knob on the faucet. The supply of the wet stuff seems endless, and what a great way to cool off in the heat of the summer. Although water can be very enticing, there are some hidden hazards to keep in mind. Water is sometimes underestimated to be one of mother natures biggest dangers. We need water to survive but we also need to be aware of the risks.
  1. Drowning

    • Drowning is among the biggest dangers of water. Learning to swim could help a person find his way to safety. However, even the best of swimmers should also learn how to float on their backs. When energy from swimming has been exhausted floating could save a life.

    Flooding

    • Flooding can pose a serious hazard. Flood waters can become violent and fast-moving in a short amount of time. Homes, vehicles, people and anything else in the way of a flood, can be washed away in a moment.

    Mildew or Mold Growth

    • Mildew or mold growth can create a hazardous situation. These can lead to illnesses such as respiratory complications, infection, allergic reactions and permanent lung damage.

    Water Intoxication

    • Water Intoxication can cause serious illness or death. This condition is also known as hyper-hydration, water poisoning, or overhydration. Athletes are sometimes at risk of overhydration when they drink too much too quickly after a workout. However, anyone can be at risk.
