How to Measure Round Stock

Round stock usually refers to cylindrical metal pipes and tubes. For stock whose diameter is too small to accurately measure with a ruler in the conventional way, you can use a micrometer, also known as a micrometer screw gauge. The traditional micrometer was in use for many years, but has largely been outmoded by the easier-to-use digital micrometer.
