Test takers are judged on a few different criteria. The assessor looks at the way they interact with the dummies or persons, how well they performed the actions, and the skills they used.
The assessment begins with the test taker attending a 2 to 2.5 hour long seminar where they learn the skills and concepts used on the test. The instructor rates their performances in these early stages in their final grades.
The test covers the basics of caring for an individual who is unconscious. It tests knowledge of how to identify an unconscious person and the steps taken to resuscitate her.
Those who take the test learn how to identify a choking victim--be it a baby, child or adult. They also learn how to prevent choking and save individuals from choking.
