Find an online French class. Websites, such as the BBC, offer weekly French classes sent to you via email and conducted through activities and vocal exercises. The classes are free, and vary in levels of capability, so as your French improves you can choose more advanced lessons.
Repeat what you have learned as often as possible. Repetition is a key way for information to be absorbed. Try using what you learn in your online classes in day-to-day conversation. Make a note of the words or phrases you struggle with in a notebook, and make sure to practice these words and phrases until they are no longer difficult.
Listen to French language tapes. This is a great way to continue learning French while still being able to continue with day-to-day chores, or even while driving. Giving yourself as many options to learn as possible will make sure you have the best chance at learning how to speak French.
Read French books. If you read small passages at a time and then try to translate them based on what you have learned, you will pick up new words and phrases. This can be done through novels, online French texts, or French magazines.
Carry a vocabulary book with you. Having all the essential French words at your fingertips will help you with any difficult words or phrases you might come across during your learning time. Each time you use your vocabulary book, make a note of the word in your notebook so you will remember it.
