The Wine Demystified online course is taught by Master Sommelier Keith Goldston. The 11 lessons in the course teach students how to analyze wine. The first lessons cover how wine is made and how where it is made and how it is made affect how it tastes. Other lessons cover how to pair wine with food and how to taste wine. The final lessons cover several varieties of wine in-depth. Students must pay a fee to access this course.
The Wine Lovers Page has many types of information about wine, from wine vocabulary to wine basics. They also have the Online Wine Tasting Course, where students can learn how to taste wine. The course is 13 chapters long and covers subjects such as appreciating the sight, smell and taste of wine, how to use blind tasting and methods to sort out the aromas of wine. This course is free to any visitor interested in learning about wine.
The Taste of the Vine website has two free online courses available for students. The Instant Wine Course covers the basics of wine tasting and includes some tools that can help the students as they are tasting. The course also covers a food and wine matching tool and profiles of popular wines. The Complete Wine Course is more in-depth and covers how your senses work and the effects of various aspects, such as the grapes or location, on the taste of the wine. It also covers all of the topics covered by the Instant Wine Course.
The Wine Spectator, a website devoted to wine, has online courses available to its members. They have courses for professionals as well as wine lovers. From basic courses that cover how to describe a glass of wine to advanced courses that cover various types of wine and how to pair wine with food, the Wine Spectator School can give students an education in wine and wine tasting.
Offering certifications from WSET, the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, the International Wine Center's courses are supported by a digital classroom. Two certifications are available, Intermediate and Advanced. The Intermediate course takes five weeks and has five classes and the Advanced course takes 16 weeks and has eight classes. After completing the course, students take an exam and then receive their certification. There is a fee to register for these courses.
