With a clearer purpose in mind, older students have an easier time saving time and money by skipping unnecessary courses.
Adult learners possess more life experience than the younger crowd. In most cases, the older students have more work experience, perhaps even managerial skills. They know the importance of punctuality and networking. Adult learners also tend to have a greater sense of responsibility.
Sometimes, adult learners may be able to go to college with the financial support of an employer. The employer may offer to pay part of the tuition fee, lowering the amount of debt that the student will face. In addition, adult learners are more likely to have useful contacts within their chosen industry.
While the younger students may easily relate to one another, they are also more likely to spend too much time on the social scene. Parties may rob younger students of study time. Adult learners may be set apart from these social circles or at least more wary of the downsides of too much partying.
