Atticus is able to get the jury think about mayellas motivation for lying?

By casting doubt on Mayella's motivation for accusing Tom Robinson and pointing out the possible biases of the witnesses, Atticus is able to get the jury to think about Mayella's accusations from a different perspective. He raises the possibility that Mayella may have fabricated her story out of anger and shame after being caught kissing a black man, which challenges the jury's assumptions and may cause them to reconsider the validity of her testimony.
