What is in Italian?

Italian, also called the Tuscan language (italiano or lingua toscana), is a Romance language of the Indo-European language family. It is the official language of Italy, San Marino, Switzerland (alongside German, Romansh, and French), and Vatican City. It is also widely spoken in parts of other countries that border Italy and have historical connections to it.

Italian is the closest language to Latin, from which it is descended, and is the modern form of Vulgar Latin. It is widely used in the arts, particularly in opera, music, and literature.
