Taliesin offers two core degree programs – a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Architectural Studies. Students divide their residency between two campuses, Taliesin West in Arizona and a summer campus in Wisconsin, undertaking a core curriculum that encompasses classes, studio workshops and required activities. Budding architects study principles such as graphic design, nature patterns, sustainability and architecture as text as they immerse themselves in Wright's own architectural creations.
At the time of publication, the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin does not require its current or prospective students to own laptops, nor does it impose any other laptop-related requirements. For admission, the school does require a application form, fee, high school and college transcripts, three letters of reference, biographical essay and statement and a complete portfolio. Laptop and admission requirements may change over time as technology and the school's policies continue to evolve.
In addition to its two core programs, Taliesin offers summer and winter artist residency programs for experienced visual artists from the United States and abroad. For this non-profit program, the school's administration recommends that resident artists bring their own laptops or any other technological equipment necessary for the production or display of their work.
Taliesin students may find having a laptop or desktop computer useful for research, writing essays and electronic drafting, especially when studying topics such as graphic design, construction technology, rendering and computer aided drafting. Both rendering and CAD are ongoing studies throughout all terms, and both rely on the use of computers. Both Taliesin campuses are equipped with wireless Internet, DSL service and basic printers. Additionally, the school offers slide and digital projectors to students when not in use for classes.
