Which college classes can you take without GED?

Many community colleges and some universities offer classes to the public without requiring a GED or high school diploma. These are often called non-credit courses or community education classes. They are typically designed for personal enrichment, professional development, or hobby exploration rather than toward earning a degree. Examples include:

* Cooking classes: Learn specific cuisines or techniques.

* Art classes: Painting, drawing, sculpture, pottery, etc.

* Computer skills classes: Word processing, spreadsheets, graphic design.

* Language classes: Spanish, French, Mandarin, etc.

* Fitness classes: Yoga, Zumba, weight training.

* Home improvement classes: Carpentry, plumbing, electrical work.

* First aid and CPR certification courses.

It's important to note that these classes do not count towards a degree or certificate program. To enroll in credit-bearing college courses that *do* count towards a degree, a GED or high school diploma (or equivalent) is almost always required. There are *some* exceptions, such as certain programs designed specifically for adults returning to education who might not have a high school diploma, but these are rare and usually involve a more involved admissions process. You should contact the specific college or university you are interested in to find out their individual policies.
