Weighted GPA
A weighted GPA takes into account the difficulty of the courses you have taken. For example, an A in a calculus course may be worth more points than an A in an English course. As a result, your weighted GPA can be higher than your unweighted GPA if you have taken a challenging course load.
Unweighted GPA
An unweighted GPA is simply the average of your grades across all of your courses. It does not take into account the difficulty of the courses you have taken. As a result, your unweighted GPA may be lower than your weighted GPA if you have taken a lot of easy courses.
Which GPA should you list?
Some colleges and universities require you to list both your weighted and unweighted GPA, while others only require you to list one. If you are applying to a college that only requires you to list one GPA, you should list the GPA that is higher. However, if you are applying to a college that requires you to list both GPAs, you should list both of them.
