Buyback is possible if the textbooks are needed for the next session and if the bookstore does not already have plenty of used books in-stock. Most university bookstore will buy books regardless of where they were originally purchased.
Selling books back to the university is a great way to dispose of any books that you don’t need for your long-term academic or vocational goals.
Since the bookstore still needs to turn a profit on the item, offers can be low. Additionally, the University of Wisconsin’s report also reports that most bookstores will not buyback books purchased as course “bundles.”
Sell your book as soon as you’re done using it. Campus bookstores only offer decent buyback prices when they have book shortages—if you wait too long, the campus may purchase used books from other students and no longer need your text.
Campus buyback is not the only option for selling old textbooks; several websites are dedicated to purchasing used textbooks, such as ECampus.com, SellBackYourBook.com, and SellBackBooks.com (see Resources).
