Narrow down your choice of construction trade occupations. There are many different fields in which to specialize, and your trade school choice depends on this specialization. You can choose to be an electrician, plumber, roofer, brick mason or carpenter, for example.
Gauge the quality of the school. Visit the campus to see the school firsthand and talk to people who have attended the school. Ask about job placement services and how many graduates are finding employment in their chosen trades upon completion of their programs.
Determine how far you can travel to your trade school. Account for the cost of gas and maintenance for your car and the time it takes to drive back and forth to school.
Consider the cost of the trade school. You can apply for financial aid to cover the cost of tuition if your school is eligible to receive the financial aid. Place a call to your school and ask if financial aid such as a Pell Grant can be used to pay tuition at that school.
Calculate the remainder of what your financial aid does not cover in tuition and pick a construction trade school that fits in your budget.
