How to Calculate Ohms

Ohms are the units in which resistance is measured. Resistance refers to the opposition of free electrons moving through conductors. Resistance changes with changes in voltage and current. Calculating ohms is important in physics and, more specifically, in electronics.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the voltage of the battery. For instance a nine volt battery has nine volts.

    • 2

Determine the current flowing through the circuit. This is the number of amps. For example, two amp.

    • 3

Divide the volts by the amps. In the example, nine volts divided by two amps equals 4.5 ohms.
