Do some brainstorming before writing your personal statement. Ask yourself what your strenghts and weaknesses are, why you are special, what kind of person you are, what do you care about. Chose one idea and research it. Ask your parents about a particular event related to the idea you chose. For example, if you are going to write about a talent you discovered and pursued, think about everything related to that unique aspect.
Explain how an experience influenced your attitude, focus and intellectual vitality. The statement must also reflect the achievements you could not highlight in your application. Be honest and avoid flattering yourself; instead, delve into the topic you chose. Use a catchy introduction to persuade the reader to learning more about your subject. Describe how you overcame some obstacles and demonstrate how knowledgeable you are about your topic. Ask for feedback from people around you.
Answer the question: "Why Us?" Perhaps you did not select your essay topic. Some colleges may ask you why you chose the topic in particular. As the question may seem simple, the answer can be tricky.
Avoid using statistics the college is already aware of but give specific information about you that the college cannot find elsewhere. Describe why the college fits you --- their extracurricular activities, special programs opportunities or personal reasons like academic achievements you want to reach in their stimulating enriched environment. Express how you can contribute to the college.
