At a land college you will have the opportunity to be in class with your peers. This will provide you the opportunity to not only form a social circle with them, but share ideas regarding the course work you are taking together. A land college will provide you with the means of expanding what you consider your social norm by exposing you to new cultures and ideas.
Attending a land college means you will be on campus several days a week depending on the number of classes you are taking. For example if you are taking an English class worth three credits this means you will be in class for three hours that week. If you are taking an art class worth one credit you will be in class for one hour that week. This will provide you with routine and structure which will help ensure that you stay on track with your assignments for each class.
When you are in a class for three hours a week this is three hours of face to face interaction you have with your professor. In addition to having access to your professor's knowledge, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about any material you do not understand in real time and get immediate answers. Additionally having face to face interactions with your instructor will allow the professor to provide you materials in a manner which will assist students who have different learning styles. You can be assisted with visual learning by reading the material presented, by auditory means by hearing the professor lecturing, and kinetically with any hands on activities that are presented within the classroom.
When you attend college classes at a land college you have access to many resources. Resources may vary by college or university but often include a library, writing center, testing center, tutoring center and gymnasium. These supplemental educational programs also offer in person service to help you with your studies and development.
