The Yale MAT program offers two concentrations: Elementary Education and Secondary Education. Elementary Education candidates complete coursework in child development, learning theory, curriculum design, and teaching methods. Secondary Education candidates complete coursework in their chosen subject area, as well as coursework in teaching methods and educational psychology.
All MAT candidates complete a student teaching internship in a local school. The student teaching internship provides candidates with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in the classroom to a real-world setting.
Upon completion of the MAT program, candidates will have earned a master's degree in education and will be eligible for state teacher certification.
