Distance Learning MBA in Shipping

Lloyd's Maritime Academy, in association with Middlesex University, serves the needs of those who need a distance learning MBA in shipping. The course is designed for those who are already in the shipping and logistics field and combines academic coursework with real-world market commentary and case studies designed to give the student a full post-graduate academic experience.
  1. Structure

    • The MBA in shipping and logistics consists of six distinct learning modules--shipping business environment and international trade, business strategy, executive leadership, advanced international marketing, finance, investment and risk management, and optimizing business performance. Lloyd's recommends that students set aside 75 hours per month for coursework.

    Case Studies

    • Case studies are a big part of this MBA program. Lloyd's consulted some of the industry's leaders for real-world case studies that can be used throughout the course. The studies are used to emphasize management techniques that work and are relevant to the distinct issues that maritime managers face. These case studies can be used by students as the basis for discussion with fellow classmates or even on-the-job strategy building.

    Admission

    • To earn admission to this distance-learning course, students must have completed a second class honors degree or better from a university in the United Kingdom, or a similar degree from a non-U.K. institution. Students must also have at least two years of professional experience in the shipping industry, demonstrated mastery of the English language and a score of at least 550 on the GMAT.
