A veterinarian requires a college degree. They must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. This degree requires at least eight years of education and training. This includes four years of undergraduate study, followed by four years of veterinary school. During veterinary school, students learn about animal anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and other subjects related to animal health.
