The nursing student learns how to apply the nursing process and how to think critically. The nursing process has five parts: assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
In Fundamentals of Nursing, the nursing student learns about aspects of professional nursing such as adhering to the law, ethical principles and proper communication skills, amongst other things.
This part of nursing is introduced in Fundamentals of Nursing to prepare the nursing student for dealing with issues of self concept, sexuality, spirituality, stress, grief and other psychological issues a patient may have.
Fundamentals of Nursing makes the nursing student aware of how to assess a patient, administer medication. It also teaches the nursing student about what a patient needs to stay alive and remain in optimal health.
