How many years of college are needed to be an emergency room doctor?

Becoming an emergency room doctor (ER doctor) requires a minimum of four years of undergraduate education followed by four years of medical school and then a minimum of three to four years of residency training in emergency medicine. So the total is at least 11-12 years of post-secondary education.
