Can Juris Doctor practice law in Canada or US?

A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree is the professional degree required to practice law in the United States. However, it is not sufficient to practice law in Canada.

In Canada, the equivalent degree is a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). While some Canadian law schools might offer a J.D. degree, it doesn't automatically qualify someone to practice law in Canada. The LL.B. is the standard. Even with a J.D., additional qualifications would be needed to practice law in Canada.
