Can you get into Ivy league with a GED?
While it is technically possible to gain admission to an Ivy League university with a GED, it is extremely challenging. The Ivy League, a group of eight prestigious private research universities (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania, and Yale) are highly selective and usually prioritize traditional high school preparation over a GED. They generally expect applicants to have a solid academic record with rigorous coursework, such as Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) classes. However, a GED holder with exceptional accomplishments, extraordinary talents, or unique circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Demonstrating remarkable achievements in other areas – like substantial community service, research/creative accomplishments, and extracurricular initiatives – could potentially enhance one's profile. Still, having a GED might require a remarkably compelling application and overcoming significant odds to earn an offer from an Ivy League school.
