When was textiles first discovered and where?
Textiles have been around for thousands of years, with evidence of their existence dating back to the Neolithic period. The earliest known examples of textiles come from the Near East, where flax fibers were used to create fabrics as early as 8000 BC. In China, silk production began around 6000 BC, while cotton cultivation and spinning was practiced in India by 3000 BC. The production of wool textiles also originated in the Neolithic period, with sheep and goats domesticated in the Middle East and Asia Minor around 11000 BC and 10000 BC respectively.
