Who was the first fashion designer?

The earliest evidence of clothing design can be traced back thousands of years. Specific information about individual fashion designers is however relatively limited. The first identifiable European fashion designer was Charles Frederick Worth, who founded his fashion house in Paris in 1858 and began to design clothing that was intended to be worn as a complete ensemble.
