Select a format. There is no required format for a CV. Most commonly, people use headings and bulleted points to make the information easily accessible to potential employers or school administrators. Some people, however, prefer an outline format. Either form is permissible as long as you follow the same form consistently.
Use phrases---not sentences---to concisely explain your accomplishments. This process is commonly called "gapping." For example, you could write "Taught art to elementary students" instead of "I taught art at a suburban elementary school."
Keep your structure the same. This is referred to as parallelism. If you start with bullet points, continue using them throughout the document to create a cohesive piece.
Place your name and contact information in a prominent location.
When just finishing school, you might be in the process of moving from one place to another. If you do not have a set address, use a permanent address---such as your parents' house---on your CV to ensure it remains applicable into the future.
If you normally use a school email address, establish a new one, as your school email might be shut down upon your graduation.
List your educational experience in order from most recent to oldest. Accurately report degrees and honors you received during the course of your education.
Include information about related employment. If you haven't had employment directly relevant to the position for which you are applying, include the job experience you do have and point out how it can help you fulfill the requirements of the position.
Add information about research projects and published papers you have completed during your education. If you are currently working on a project, you can point this out as long as you carefully indicate you have not completed the work yet.
Place references on a separate page at the end of your CV. Always ask people before including them as a reference so they are not surprised by the call. On the reference list, clearly explain the capacity in which you know each individual.
