What Is Full-Spectrum Diversity?

Full-spectrum diversity is a term used to describe a policy of equal rights and protections for all people. Whereas affirmative action deals specifically with the rights of women and racial minorities, full-spectrum diversity covers a wider range of prejudices.
  1. Affirmative Action

    • Affirmative action, also sometimes referred to as positive discrimination, is the action of providing preferential treatment to women and racial minorities in areas such as employment and higher education. It is a highly controversial subject.

    Full Spectrum

    • Full-spectrum diversity protects not only people of every race and gender, but also of every religion, sexual orientation, disability and economic status.

    Function

    • The function of full-spectrum diversity is to ensure that no one suffers discrimination or enjoys favoritism based on factors beyond his control and/or within his rights, such as race and/or religion. It is often used in college and employment settings.
