College Wellness Degrees

College wellness programs leading to degrees provide students with education and training about the concept of whole body wellness. These degree programs offer courses about prevention of disease and other health concerns along with alternative methods of treating those conditions. The degree programs range from an Associate Degree to a Doctoral Degree.
  1. Associate

    • This basic degree program involves a two-year program, typically at a technical or community college, designed to offer basic instruction on wellness. The College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois, offers an Associate Degree in Applied Science with a concentration in Health and Wellness Promotion. Typical courses in this degree would include nutrition, herbalism, natural health practices, aroma therapy, biochemistry and microbiology. Graduates can pursue employment with an alternative health care practitioner or other employment in the alternative health care field.

    Doctoral

    • Obtaining a Ph.D. in the wellness field requires completion of a program such as the one offered by Arizona State University. The university conveys the Ph.D. degree upon completion of an Interdisciplinary Program involving physical activity, nutrition and wellness. The program concentrates on contributions to health through quality of life and enhancement of well being and reduction disease risk.
