Consult books, magazines and other published sources that relate to your chosen topic. Take notes and develop common themes that present themselves during your research. Develop a working thesis statement that your research will support.
Test how strong your thesis is by asking yourself whether you have crafted a statement that can be argued and can be supported by your research. Devise at least three supporting points gleaned from your research that tie back to and bolster your thesis and that will each be a basis for their own paragraphs.
Write a topic sentence for each paragraph containing a point that supports your thesis statement. Craft a tightly written topic sentence so it is detailed and supported by facts that you then will lay out in the following sentences of the paragraph. Repeat this process for each supporting paragraph.
