Instructions

    • 1

Log on to the University of Phoenix website and navigate to WritePoint via the "Library" tab. In order to use WritePoint you need to get your essay evaluated first.

    • 2

Check each correction you receive. Some of the corrections are not relevant to what you are writing about. For example, WritePoint will notify you when you have used first person, reminding you to use third person in essay writing. Some college writing permits the use of first person, in which case you can ignore these suggestions.

Rewrite the word, sentence or phrase with the suggestion WritePoint gives you. If you can't think of a how to rewrite your text incorporating the suggestion, or don't understand what WritePoint has suggested, it probably means that you have to review the grammar concept it has suggested you use in your writing. For example, if WritePoint suggests you write in active voice when you have written in passive voice, and you don't know what that means, you'll have to research it in the University of Phoenix's Center for Writing Excellence or another website.

Reread your paper to ensure that it reads smoothly. Make more corrections if you notice WritePoint has missed some. For example, WritePoint won't catch all misspelled words.
